The Education Professions class is divided into first and second year cadet teachers. These cadets go to various schools in the KVSC 2-3 days a week to practice their emerging teaching skills all while learning about teaching as a profession as they shadow some of the best elementary, middle and high school teachers in the district.

"In the EMS Course offered at KVHS, students are supplied with basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patients with prehospital care. Students understand EMT requirements to give basic life support measures and transport. Not only are skills taught and understood, but students learn effective communication, proper body mechanics, and principle assessment characteristics."

Laissons-nous apprendre le Français! Let's learn French! French is one of six languages used globally by the United Nations, it is an official language of the Red Cross, the European Union, Doctors Without Borders, and many more. More than 350 million people speak French around the globe. It is the language of business, politics and diplomacy, journalism, science, culinary, and hospitality. At KVHS, you can take three years of French and a year of AP French. The first year will introduce you to some basics like colors, numbers, family members and pets. Second year you will learn more of the basics of conversation so that you can speak French and understand others. In our third year, you will apply what you have learned and master your skills. We learn while we play games, watch films, learn more about the culture, explore traditional French foods, follow French sports teams, and take a few field trips. Much of our learning is project based and homework is mostly completed in class.

German

Come learn German with us! Frau Memic has been teaching German at KVHS for 4 years now. She was born and raised in Germany, and went to school in both the US and in Germany. Frau Memic is a great teacher for this subject, being flexible, nice and caring, and helping with every issue in order to make sure that you truly understand the subject!

German can be taken from freshman to senior year, with many different ways to learn, practice, and explore. From cooking to films and movies, exploring and learning about German as a language, a country, and as a culture is made fun with all the different activities courtesy of Frau Memic!

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) at KVHS is a pathway of courses to gauge one's interest in careers in Engineering and Engineering Technology. Students learn various important concepts such as 3D modeling, architecture, electronics, and the engineering design process. It's a great opportunity to see if a student likes any of these concepts as a potential future career, or maybe don't like it and save themselves or their parents a lot of money and time in college! KV PLTW has had a lot of successful graduates go on to great things in the engineering and technology fields who have felt well-prepared by taking these fun and interesting courses!

Welders in Project MFG Competition

Our welders are excited to be part of PROJECT MFG this year! We have received our first project. These are KV's 3 competitors for this year. Here are the details. Throughout the season, student competitors will engage in a series of three project-based challenges that require them to demonstrate proficiency in various welding processes. These projects will evaluate their capabilities in key areas such as fit-up, joint preparation, and the quality of the final weld. At the end of the season, the top-performing participants for the year will have the opportunity to compete head-to-head at the Project MFG National Welding Championship, where they will compete for the national title and a grand prize of $10,000 in cash.
